Thamilselvan, 57, is a grounded, straight-talking Singaporean who has dedicated over 20 years of his life to both work and community service. He is single and fully committed to serving the people, he brings with him a wealth of real-world experience and a deep understanding of the everyday struggles Singaporeans face.
Fluent in English and Tamil, and conversant in Hokkien dialect and Malay, Thamilselvan embodies the multicultural spirit of Singapore. His ability to connect with people across different backgrounds reflects the diversity of Tampines GRC itself.
His journey began in the mid-1980s with hands-on roles in companies like JVC and Seagate. There, he learnt the value of teamwork, operational efficiency, and resilience—skills that shaped his approach to problem-solving. Later, his desire to serve led him to consumer advocacy at CASE (Consumers Association of Singapore), where he stood up for fair treatment and transparent practices for everyday Singaporeans.
Thamilselvan has worked across many sectors—administration, retail, logistics, food & beverage, and construction—making him someone who truly understands the challenges faced by workers, families, and small business owners. Since 2017, he holds senior role at Kaiyo in the construction and building industry, where he continues to lead with humility and practical wisdom.
He is also no stranger to speaking up when it matters. In 2008, together with some friends he took a stand for the inclusion of Tamil on public signboards and brought the matter to the attention of the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (STPB). It received wide media coverage then. Thanks to such efforts, Tamil is now prominently seen on directional signage at places like Changi Airport and government buildings.
A firm believer in lifelong learning, Thamilselvan has equipped himself with leadership and volunteer training. He also completed the “Paralegal Skills” course organized by the Law Society of Singapore, further sharpening his understanding of legal and social issues affecting Singaporeans.
What truly sets Thamilselvan apart is his heart for the community. He is a strong advocate for the working class, small business owners, and those struggling with the rising cost of living. These are not just campaign topics to him—they are causes he has lived and fought for.
Thamilselvan believes leadership starts with listening. As your candidate for the National Solidarity Party in Tampines GRC, he is committed to walking alongside residents, understanding your concerns, and working with integrity to create real, lasting change.
With Thamilselvan, you’re not just getting a politician—you’re getting a neighbour, a voice, and a tireless servant of the people
