Candidate of Tampines GRC

Engineering Manager in the Fire Safety Industry

56 Years Old

Married

Hello Residents of Tampines GRC,

Dear Residents and Friends,

A big and warm Hello! to you and your loved ones. I am Fong Chin Leong, and I am privileged to stand before you as a candidate for Tampines GRC. With a background as an engineering manager in the Fire Safety Industry, I am reaching 56 years old soon, married and a proud father of two. Both my son and daughter are still undergoing their tertiary studies.

My life has been rooted in the values of service, community, and integrity. I was a students’ leader during my education in the Singapore Polytechnic back in the 1990s and that’s where it built up my interest to serve the community. Like many poly students it was difficult to make the grades to NUS or NTU. But having an interest to learn more I did my degree in engineering management on a part-time basis while I was working full time as an engineer.

My political journey began in 1994 after my ORD. I was fuelled by a passion for contributing to our nation and encouraging younger Singaporeans to engage in politics. Initially, I didn’t aspire to hold office as my sole ambition was to serve the community and make a difference. Back then you do not see many youths coming forward to serve, and during General Election (GE) the PAP will always return to power immediately after nomination day.

This election represents my fourth candidacy in Tampines GRC since 2011, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the residents who have supported the National Solidarity Party (NSP) throughout the years. Because of your unwavering support, we are back to contest again. This GE we are proud to present a stronger team of candidates ready to represent your interests.

The stakes in each GE are high, it represents that you have a vote in hand to determine which party earned your trust to represent you in parliament. I am genuinely concerned for the high cost of living which give you tremendous financial stress. Singapore needs checks and balances. Robust debate in Parliament is essential; without it, critical policies affecting your jobs, families, and futures may proceed without the scrutiny they deserve.

Handing the PAP government an unchecked mandate is akin to giving them a blank cheque that ultimately impacts each and everyone of us. As an alternative party, our role is to speak up for you. We will challenge unjust policies, defend your interests, and ensure that your voices resonate in the Parliament.

Many Singaporeans express a pressing concern in employment security. They feel unfairly being displaced by cheaper foreign PMETs. It is imperative that we urge the government to reassess policies that undermine local workers and prioritize the livelihoods of Singaporeans.

You know what is at stake. You understand the consequences of a Parliament devoid of opposition. I am committed to be your full time MP because you deserve more. Together, let’s strive for a fairer, more balanced Singapore for our families and generations to come.

We must unite—because

Your future, Our priority”.

Let’s make a difference together!
